- Use stainless steel, ceramic, or cast iron cookware. Cookware with nonstick coatings may release toxic fumes when cooking at high temperatures.
- When refrigerating leftovers, use plastic food containers with the following recycling safety codes: # 1PETE, #2 HDPE, #4 LDPE, and #5 PP. Try to avoid using plastic food containers with the recycling code #7; they may contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical which may be linked to cancer and insulin resistance.
