AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Hall of Fame

The AAACN Ambulatory Care Nursing Hall of Fame Award will recognize a current or past AAACN member whose contribution to AAACN and to ambulatory care nursing has resulted in a significant impact that elevated ambulatory care nursing practice and demonstrated engagement and commitment to the organization. The awardee will be honored for their significant impact in shaping ambulatory care nursing through nursing excellence, leadership, and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria:

Current or past membership in AAACN.
Ambulatory Care Registered Nurse (RN) who is active or retired.
Current Leadership Development and Nominating Committee or Board of Directors members are excluded.
Must have at least 10 years of experience in ambulatory care nursing.
Candidates can be self-nominated or nominated by someone else.

Award:
A plaque presented at the Annual Conference and $500.

AAACN/DAISY Nurse of the Year Award

Eligibility Criteria:

Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships through compassion, respect for person, integrity, and professionalism in delivery of care to ambulatory care patients and families.
Engages patients and members of the interprofessional team in improving health outcomes that address disparities and social determinants of health.
Delivers person-centered, high quality, safe and effective evidence-based care.
Promotes interprofessional collegial working relationships.
Leads beyond the individual encounter—mentors others, advocates for recognition of nursing’s essential contributions, and influences systems, standards, and decision making in ambulatory care.

A plaque presented at the Annual Conference and one year of AAACN Membership.

Eligibility Criteria:

Distinguished career as a nurse in clinical practice, administration, education, and/or research that promote a positive image of Ambulatory Care Nursing.
Demonstrates effective interpersonal relationships through compassionate care, respect for person, integrity, and professionalism.
Demonstrates and actively engages in the professional development of self and others in Ambulatory Care Nursing.
Serves as a professional role model and advocate for nursing practice and the advancement of Ambulatory Care Nursing.
Advocates for the improvement of patient care and serves as an exemplar for enhancing the patient experience.
Recognized by the broader nursing community as a transformational Ambulatory Care Nursing leader.
Promotes, encourages and exemplifies active participation in AAACN.

Shape the Future of AAACN: Apply Now for the 2027 Election

Are you interested in running for a position of Director on AAACN's Board of Directors or as a Member of the Nominating Committee?

The Nominating Committee is seeking dedicated individuals to join AAACN’s Board of Directors and help drive the association’s mission, vision, and strategic plan forward. They are also looking for qualified members to serve on the Nominating Committee, which plays a key role in selecting future leaders.

Director (Two Positions Available): Serves a three-year term, guiding the association through strategic initiatives, innovative programs, and member empowerment to foster growth and success.
Nominating Committee Member (Two Positions Available): Serves a two-year term, responsible for identifying, recruiting, and nominating eligible candidates for elected positions, as well as overseeing the annual election and awards and scholarships process.

Timeline for Applicants

Applications are due by Monday, June 1
June - Nominating Committee members will review the applications
July - Applicants will be contacted with results and receive the next steps for the election
October - Meet the Candidates video for members to view
November 1 - Election begins through Dec 6

AAACN is seeking qualified candidates to serve on the 2027-2028 Program Planning Committee. This volunteer position is a two-year commitment.

Program Planning Committee Member Responsibilities:

Review and evaluate abstracts
Select appropriate topics and speakers for the program
Assure content is congruent with the AAACN Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Ambulatory Care Nursing, the Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Telehealth Nursing, and the Scope and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses in Care Coordination and Transition Management
Follow up with speakers as necessary
At Annual Conference, participate in all activities assigned to committee members
Must be available to attend the in-person annual planning weekend (tentative end-of-September)

Candidate Qualifications:

Active member of AAACN
Knowledge and experience in ambulatory care nursing
Knowledge of current ambulatory care nursing issues and trends
Knowledge and experience in applying principles of adult education
Experience in planning NCPD activities preferred
Ability to participate in virtual meetings, sometimes held weekly, and respond to email within 48 hours
Must commit to attending the 2027–2028 Annual Conferences in person (Committee members receive complimentary conference registration for both years.)
