These are some of the most frequently asked questions about using the AAACN Website.

How to Activate Your Account If You Are Already an AAACN Member

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Step 3: Click "New Visitor Registration."
Once on the Login page, instead of entering an email address and password, click on the "New Visitor Registration" link.

Step 4: Enter Your Email Address.
We will search our database to see if your email address is already connected to your member record. After clicking on the "Go" button, one of three things will happen:

  • If we find a match for your email address and you already have an account set up on the AAACN website, you will be given the option to log in or reset your password.
  • If we find a match for your email address, but you have not yet set up an account, use the "Forgot Password" link. AAACN will send you an email with a link that enables you to set up your account password.
  • If we do not find a match for your email address, you will be given the option to create a new account. If you are a member, you need to connect to your existing member account instead. Please use the link provided to try searching again on any other email addresses you have or have used in the past.
  • If you are unable to find a match for any of your email addresses, please contact the AAACN National Office at aaacn@aaacn.org or 800-262-6877 for help activating your member account.

Step 5: Once you are logged in to the website, you will have full access to all member benefits. If you do not see links to member benefits, please contact the National Office to ensure your account has been activated properly.


How to Create a New/Non-Member Account

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Step 3: Click "New Visitor Registration."
Once on the Login page, instead of entering an email adress and password, click on the "New Visitor Registration" link.

Step 4: Enter your Email Address.
We will search our database to see if your email address is already connected to a record. After clicking on the "Go" button, one of three things will happen:

  • If we find a match for your email address and you already have an account set up on the AAACN website, you will be given the option to log in or reset your password.
  • If we find a match for your email address, but you have not yet set up an account, use the "Forgot Password" link. AAACN will send you an email with a link that enables you to set up your account password.
  • If we do not find a match for your email address, you will be given the option to create a new account.
  • Click the "Create Account Now" button.

Step 5: Set Up a New Account.
In this section you will first be asked to center your personal and contact information (name, address, phone, email, etc.). Make sure to complete all of the required information in this section and then click "Continue."

Step 6: Provide Information About Your Organization. 
If you entered a work address, you will be asked to confirm it. If you entered a personal address, you will be asked to provide a work address now. Click "Save" to continue.

Step 7: Create a Password.
Enter and confirm your new password. Your password is case-sensitive. Make sure to note capitalization and spacing exactly as it is entered on the screen.

Step 8: If you completed all of the information correctly you will see a page that congratulates you on setting up your account. You are now logged in to the website and have full access to all account holder benefits. If you wish to make changes to your account profile, click on "Edit My Information" in the blue side bar. You can log out by clicking on "Logout" in this same area.


How to Log In to the website

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Step 3: Enter Your Email Address and Password.
Important: Your password is case-sensitive. Make sure to note capitalization and spacing exactly as it is entered on the screen. Click on the "Go" button.

Step 4: If you entered the correct information, you will be logged in to the website and routed to a page displaying your personal information.

If you wish to make changes to your account profile, click on "Edit My Information" in the blue side bar. You can log out by clicking on "Logout" in this same area.

If you were unable to log in to the website, you can reset your password by using the "forgot your password" option on the "Login" page.

How to Login If You Forgot Your Password

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Step 3: Click the "Forgot Your Password?" link below the login form.

Step 4: Enter your Email Address.
After you've entered your email address, click "Go." You will receive a message that includes a link to change your password. If you don't see it within a few minutes, check your "junk" folder or contact us at the National Office.

Step 5: Click the "Reset My Password" link in the email.

Step 6: Enter and Confirm Your New Password.
Once your password has been changed, you will be redirected to the Login page, where you can enter your email address and newly reset password.


How to Edit Your Account Profile

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

Step 3: Enter Your Email Address and Password.
Important: Your password is case-sensitive. Make sure to note capitilization and spacing exactly as it is entered on the screen. Click on the "Go" button.

Step 4: Once logged in, you will be taken to the Individual Information page. Click on the "Edit" link to make changes to your information. You can also access this by clicking "Edit my Information" in the blue sidebar.

Step 5: Edit Your Individual Information.
From this page, you can edit your personal, address, contact, and employment information. Click "Manage Contact Info" to add and edit phone numbers, fax numbers, addresses and email addresses. You can also set an address or number as your primary contact in each category. Click "Manage Demographics" to update your practice area, Special Interest Group, journal selection, and how you will receive ViewPoint. Click "Save" to commit your changes.

Step 6: Logging Out.
When you are ready to log out, do so by clicking on the "Logout" button in the blue sidebar.


How to Use AAACN's Membership Directory

Step 1: Go to www.aaacn.org.

Step 2: Click on the "Login/New User" button.
You will see this button in the upper right hand corner of the site.

The AAACN Membership Directory is a benefit of membership in AAACN, so you will need to be logged in to your member account to access it.

Step 3: Enter Your Email Address and Password.
Important: Your password is case-sensitive. Make sure to note capitilization and spacing exactly as it is entered on the screen. Click on the "Go" button.

Step 3: Click on "Find a Member" in the blue sidebar.

Step 4: Enter Your Search Criteria.
The Membership Directory allows you to search by first name, last name, city or state. You may conduct a search using one or multiple fields.

Advanced Searching: The AAACN Membership Directory uses the percentage sign (%) as a wildcard character.

For instance, if you know the person you are searching for has a last name that starts with the letter "D", you can type "D%" in the "Last Name" field and click on "Go" to pull up a list of current AAACN members with last names that begin with the letter "D."

Step 5: View Your Search Results.
Click on "Go" after you have entered your search criteria, and a screen will display your search results. You will see a list containing the members' full names, organizations, addresses and email addresses.

If you did not find the person you are looking for, try clicking on the "back to search" link at the top and reducing your search criteria. For instance, if you originally entered both a last name and state, try searching again only using the last name field.

Some members have elected not to have their names included in the directory. If you access the directory and are unable to locate a member, this may be the reason.

Step 6: Logging Out.
When you are finished using the AAACN website, we suggest you log out of your account by clicking on the "Logout" button in the blue sidebar.


How Do I Use the AAACN Connected Community?

Go to the AAACN Connected Community for the latest information and all member use details.


Using Acrobat Files and Opening Links

Adobe Reader

Portable Document Format

Many of the downloadable files contained on the AAACN Website are formatted for the Adobe Acrobat Reader in the form of .PDF files.

Using the Adobe Acrobat Reader when opening and operating .PDF files, assures you the file will display and operate correctly. This is especially true as it pertains to hyperlinks.

If you are having difficultly with a .PDF file from the AAACN Website, please download it to your computer first, then right click the file and "Open With Adobe Acrobat Reader."
