2027 Election

I first encountered AAACN through a Special Interest Group (SIG) and found a community of nurses eager to share, learn, and make practice better for our patients. The camaraderie drew me in, and I have become more involved ever since. AAACN has influenced both how I approach ambulatory care and how I advocate for nurses as a leader.

At AAACN, I have had the privilege of helping shape our specialty, including serving on the Telehealth SIG Advisory Committee and as a reviewer of the latest Telehealth Scope and Standards and Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing. As chair of the Publications Committee, I am passionate about creating more opportunities for nurses to share their expertise and expanding practical, relevant resources.

I bring 20+ years in ambulatory care nursing, starting as a frontline nurse to a current leader role. As Associate Chief Nursing Officer, I lead nursing across an ambulatory health network spanning diverse settings, specialties, and patient populations in New Jersey. I am especially proud of creating opportunities for our nurses through professional nursing governance and a clinical advancement program, as well as implementing Lunch and Learns where ambulatory care nurses develop education for one another, highlighting their nursing care.

If elected, I will focus on amplifying our voice, increasing visibility for our specialty in the broader healthcare conversation, and demonstrating the impact of ambulatory care nursing. AAACN has been my professional home, and I'd be honored to keep giving back to the nurses who make this specialty what it is.

I have been a member of AAACN for more than 20 years and have witnessed the organization's growth, evolution, and continued success. Throughout my membership, I have actively contributed to several initiatives, including serving on the team that developed the Executive Toolkit. I currently serve on the Publications Committee and previously completed a three-year term on the Nominating Committee. In addition, I have volunteered as an abstract reviewer for both podium and poster presentations. These experiences have given me a deep appreciation for the dedication, professionalism, and collaborative spirit that define AAACN and have inspired my desire to serve on the Board of Directors.

At this stage in my career, I am eager to contribute at an even higher level. I am currently serving a one-year appointment on the Board of Directors and would welcome the opportunity to continue supporting the organization through a full three-year term. My commitment to AAACN's mission and future has only grown stronger through this experience.

Beyond AAACN, I am an active member of several professional organizations and have held leadership positions, including Treasurer and Correspondence Secretary, within local chapters. I also serve in leadership roles within my professional career, which has provided valuable experience in strategic planning, collaboration, and decision-making.

I bring a combination of experience, knowledge, adaptability, and enthusiasm. Most importantly, I am passionate about supporting AAACN and helping the organization maintain its high standards of excellence while continuing to grow, innovate, and thrive in the years ahead.

Jami Falk is an Office of Primary Care (OPC) Executive Nurse Leader with more than 25 years of healthcare experience, including 22 years of progressive leadership within the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Her experience spans national, regional, and facility levels, with expertise in enterprise primary care and quality management.

For the past 15 years, Ms. Falk has led ambulatory and primary care initiatives focused on nursing practice, population health, chronic disease management, care coordination, and transitions of care. Her expertise includes ambulatory operations, access, quality and safety, patient experience, workforce optimization, and change management. A published coauthor in nursing research and performance improvement, she translates strategic priorities into sustainable improvements that strengthen nursing practice, expand access, and improve outcomes for Veterans.

Ms. Falk holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Jamestown and a Master of Science from the University of Mary. She is a Certified Nurse Manager and Leader (CNML) and an AAACN member since 2016. Her AAACN contributions include service on the Scope & Standards and Nurse Sensitive Indicators task forces; co-authorship of Scope and Standards of Practice, 10th Edition, and the VHA chapter in the 2024 AAACN Nurse Sensitive Indicators Industry Report, 2nd Edition; a two-year appointment to the Association for Nursing Professional Development Committee; service as an AAACN mentor; and current service as Chair-Elect of the AAACN Planning Committee. She also participated in the 2026 Ambulatory Care Nursing Leadership Structure Position Statement and Task Force and facilitated the AAACN/Elsevier webinar in May 2026.

Dawn Fletcher, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, has been a registered nurse since 2009 and an ambulatory care leader since 2012. She currently serves as a Nurse Administrator at Mayo Clinic, where she provides nursing leadership across multiple ambulatory specialties

A passionate advocate for ambulatory care nursing, Dawn is committed to elevating the voices of individuals and groups whose contributions are not always fully recognized. She believes AAACN is strongest when every member has a pathway to contribute, lead, and shape the future of healthcare.

Dawn has a demonstrated track record of identifying emerging needs and transforming them into opportunities for growth and engagement. Within AAACN, she proposed and chaired the Workplace Safety Task Force, which evolved into the Workplace Safety & Workforce Well-being Special Interest Group. She currently chairs the LPN/LVN Professional Development Task Force, advancing recognition, professional growth, and leadership opportunities for LPNs/LVNs in ambulatory care. She also submitted a proposal to reimagine AAACN's Local Networking Group structure to strengthen member engagement, collaboration, and leadership development.

Dawn is dedicated to advancing AAACN's mission through leadership, innovation, inclusion, and collaboration. She earned her BSN from Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University, her MSN from Kennesaw State University, and her DNP from Emory University.

Through service on the Board, Dawn hopes to further strengthen member engagement, cultivate future leaders, and ensure ambulatory care nurses remain influential voices in shaping the future of healthcare.

Terrie Hemman is an Associate Chief Administrative Officer with The Permanente Medical Group at Kaiser Permanente and a healthcare executive with more than 30 years of leadership experience across ambulatory care, hospital-based services, patient safety, quality, workforce strategy, and operational improvement. She has led complex service line operations, advanced innovation in care delivery, strengthened regulatory readiness, and supported high-performing teams across integrated healthcare systems.

A dedicated AAACN leader and contributor, Terrie is a former Telehealth SIG Chair and has served as a mentor in the AAACN Mentoring Program, a member of the Nominating Committee, a manuscript reviewer for Viewpoint, and a team leader for the Legacy Award Workgroup. She is also a contributing author and co-author to the Scope and Standards of Practice for Professional Telehealth Nursing, 7th Edition, and the AAACN Ambulatory Leader Toolkit.

Terrie is committed to advancing ambulatory care nursing through leadership development, innovation, and excellence in professional practice. She brings a strong record of strategic leadership, operational execution, and professional service, along with a deep commitment to supporting the future of ambulatory care nursing.

Alicia Bosse is the Magnet Program Manager at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a strategic nursing leader with more than 15 years of experience in ambulatory operations, professional development, quality improvement, shared governance, and nursing excellence.

Her ambulatory leadership includes supervising specialty clinics and providing system-level education, consultation, and resources for clinical staff and telephone triage nurses across more than 100 clinics. She has led initiatives to improve telephone triage education, documentation, clinical decision support, workflow efficiency, patient safety, and performance monitoring. Her work includes developing a Telephone Triage Superuser Program and using Epic and Power BI to advance data-informed improvement.

In her current role, she highlights nursing-sensitive indicators in ambulatory settings and advances recognition of ambulatory nurses' contributions to quality and patient outcomes. She participates in AAACN's Leadership and Nursing-Sensitive Indicator Special Interest Groups to strengthen professional connections and broaden her perspective.

An engaged AAACN member, she serves on the Telehealth SIG Advisory Council and contributed to the seventh edition of AAACN's Telehealth Nursing Practice Standards. She was selected as an AI Nurse Fellow through AAACN and Quadrivia. Since 2023, she has presented posters and podium sessions on ambulatory initiatives at AAACN conferences, earning Top 10 poster recognition in 2025 and 2026.

Through leadership, mentorship, and national involvement, Alicia recognizes potential, builds relationships, and inspires nurses to contribute beyond formal roles. She would bring an inclusive, thoughtful, and future-focused perspective to the Nominating Committee while helping identify qualified members who reflect ambulatory care nursing's breadth and strength.

Dedria R. Sowder has built her nursing career around a commitment to strengthening ambulatory care, supporting nurses, and helping teams deliver safe, consistent, high-quality care. Throughout more than three decades in nursing, she has served as a clinician, educator, clinical leader, and ambulatory practice leader. Her leadership approach is collaborative and grounded in the belief that every perspective adds value and that strong organizations are built by engaging people, developing future leaders, and creating opportunities for nurses to contribute meaningfully.

Dedria has been an active member of AAACN since 2008 and has served the organization in numerous volunteer roles, including the Leadership Special Interest Group Advisory Board, Preceptor Guide Task Force, Association for Nursing Professional Development Task Force, and Lippincott Nursing Procedures Task Force. She has also authored and reviewed content for multiple editions of the Core Curriculum for Ambulatory Care Nursing and has presented at AAACN conferences.

Her commitment to professional service also includes national leadership with the American Nurses Credentialing Center, where she has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Ambulatory Care Nursing Content Expert Panel.

Dedria is passionate about advancing the role of the registered nurse in ambulatory care and supporting the continued growth of AAACN. She would bring to the Nominating Committee a thoughtful, inclusive approach to identifying and encouraging future leaders whose diverse experiences, perspectives, and talents will help sustain and strengthen the organization.

Dr. Jenny Uguru is the Director of Nursing for Quality Management at NYC Health+Hospitals/ Woodhull. She has clinical and leadership experience in acute and critical care nursing, ambulatory care, maternal-child health, and oncology, and is certified in many specialties. Dr. Uguru believes in the power of nursing to drive quality outcomes and the transformation of organizations through effective strategic planning. She has a passion for leading by example, ensuring the provision of quality, equitable, and safe patient care, staff engagement, innovation, nursing scholarship, and wellness. Her passion for dissemination of EBP and positive outcomes as a research scientist has led to multiple publications and national and international poster and podium presentations.

As a preceptor, mentor, and coach, Dr. Uguru has guided and supported many nursing and non-nursing staff and colleagues to pursue and successfully achieve professional growth and development, and encourages a focus on wellness to develop and sustain a positive work-life balance and prevent burnout.

Finally, her dedication to population health, caring for the underserved, and to the nursing profession underscores her lifelong commitment to public health, health equity, inclusion, and volunteer work as she actively engages in service to her professional organizations and her alma mater. She also leads and regularly participates in community service events which positively impact the health and well-being of the community, addressing SDOH, improving care access, and providing equitable resources to strengthen and uplift the community.
