Advocacy in Action: Kae Livsey Represents AAACN at Hill Day

AAACN’s Advocacy Committee is laying the groundwork to equip members with the tools, resources, and opportunities needed to influence legislation that supports ambulatory care nurses and the patients they serve. While formal grassroots processes and infrastructure are still being developed, recent efforts reflect the hands-on, high-impact direction the committee is moving toward.

Most recently, Advocacy Committee Chair Kae Livsey, PhD, RN, MPH, joined over 500 nurses in Washington, D.C. for ANA Hill Day 2025, advocating on behalf of the nursing profession. Kae, shown on the far right of the photo, met with Congressional offices to champion critical investments in the nursing workforce and protections for healthcare workers.

“It was a great experience joining other nursing colleagues at ANA Hill Day 2025,” said Kae. “We met with multiple offices to promote the need for investments in nursing through Title VIII reauthorization and funding. We also stressed the importance of passing legislation to address healthcare workplace violence and protect our healthcare workers.”

This kind of engagement is just the beginning. As AAACN’s advocacy efforts grow, the committee aims to create more direct pathways for members to get involved and make their voices heard on the issues that matter most.
