What do institutional online subscribers have access to?
Institutional subscribers have access to all Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing content, including 4 issues per year. Access is limited to computers within a particular IP range.
How can I tell if my institution has subscribed to Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing online?
If your institution has a subscription, you will automatically have access to the tables of contents, abstracts, full-text searching, and full article display. You’ll also be greeted by a pop-up identifying your institution and suggesting you register an account (only needed if you plan on taking any of the related continuing education/NCPD assessments). If your institution has not subscribed, you can choose to access JACN online with an individual subscription.
My institution has a subscription to Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing online, but I’m not able to see the full text of articles. I’m prompted for a username and password. Why is this happening?
When this happens, the IP address for your computer/device is not being recognized by our system. This failure is caused by one of the following:
- Your institutional subscription has not yet been activated.
- You are not accessing the journal from a computer on the appropriate campus network.
- The person who submitted the online subscription did not provide complete and/or accurate IP address information for your institution.
If you are having this problem, tell your librarian or send us an email (jpi@ajj.com) so we can diagnose the problem.
How do institutional online subscriptions work?
When someone attempts to use Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing online, our server checks to see if the requesting computer is within the list of internet IP address provided by a subscribing institution. If it is, the reader will be able to use all services enabled for institutional readers. While there are no usernames or passwords to remember for access, it is recommended that individual users create account on their first visit if they intend on taking advantage of any continuing education credits.
Who from my institution can access the Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing online?
Any user connecting from an authorized computer on your institutional network is allowed access to the Journal of Ambulatory Care Nursing online.

For the most part, an institutional online subscription authorizes use at a localized site. A “site” is an organizational unit and may be academic or nonacademic. For organizations located in more than one city, each location is considered a different site. For organizations within the same city that are administered independently, each office is considered a different site. Each site requires an independent subscription.
