AAACN’s Legislative Team has had an active summer! Below is a summary of all the latest Nursing Community Coalition (NCC) initiatives AAACN has supported.

AAACN Supports NCC's COVID-19 Reiteration of Priorities Letter to Congress
AAACN has signed on to a letter the Nursing Community Coalition sent to the House and Senate leadership, as well as key Congressional Committees, recapping their shared priorities and concerns, and summarizing additional priorities for any COVID-19 legislative package. Additional priorities include supports and protection for nurses, increased access to telehealth, and more.

AAACN Supports NCC's COVID-19 Priorities Letter to Congress
AAACN signed on to NCC's initial letter to Congress outlining shared priorities for any upcoming COVID-19 legislation. Priorities include protection and support for nurses, among other important concerns.

AAACN Supports NCC Letter to Appropriators Reiterating FY 2021 Funding Request
AAACN, along with 60 other NCC members, signed onto a letter to the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education reiterating a shared funding request of at least $278 million for the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and at least $182 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research for Fiscal Year 2021.

AAACN Supports NCC's Letter of Support of Directive 1899 and Full Practice Authority for CRNAs at the VA
AAACN supported NCC's letter to the Administration supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) Directive 1899, which would remove barriers to practice and enable for Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to practice to the full extent of their education and abilities.

AAACN Supports NCC's Testimony to Senate Appropriations Subcommittee
AAACN signed on to written testimony NCC submitted to the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. The testimony featured the coalition's funding requests of $278 million for the Title VIII Nursing Workforce Development Programs and $182 million for the National Institute of Nursing Research for Fiscal Year 2021.
